I’ve spent more than half of my life involved in some form of activism within the LGBTQ+ community. From the moment I came out as transgender at thirteen years old, I threw myself into the lilteral role of spokesperson by appearing on media shows, news print and developing an online presence. I’ve attended conferences both as a participant and presenter, conducted community research and told my personal transgender narrative over and over with the hopes that I’d help make a difference in someone’s life.
Most of the work was done knowing that if I didn’t become an activist and fight against laws, legislation and bigotry, that one day I would find myself in a dangerous situation or having my rights restricted. However, I have come to realize that even more work can be done when empowering others to advocate for themselves, and to that is what I hope to help you do.
My main goal is to have you bring your full, authentic self into world through therapeutic interventions, coaching and support. While my experience includes working with individuals who have anxiety, depression and post trauma related symptoms, I pride myself on bringing a safe pace for individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ anywhere we go together.
In addition to working with clients I am also developing a non-profit organization, Queer Works, that is working to reinvent the way in which Queer individuals access and receive mental health services. Right now we are in the process of putting on a Transgender Health Symposium for mental health, biological health and social welfare providers.
